Living in the Caribbean since 1994 she has won awards for her photo images and has become a well-known and admired wedding photographer. Her work is displayed nationally and internationally. Sonya Melescu is also working on a book of black & white images of women in their ninth month of pregnancy. She feels women are in their true essence on their wedding day and when they are with child. A large portion of the profits from the book will go to funding a safe place for women and children who are victims of war, genocide, or disastrous circumstances. She sponsors women and children around the world and is a voice for them, in the hope that we will stop repeating the mistakes of the past but which are, sadly, still happening. When not photographing weddings, Sonya travels to places that most people do not think about ever going where she photographs and writes the stories of the women and children that have suffered atrocities no human should ever have to endure. As a photographer Sonya Melescu feels she can use her camera to bring awareness to the masses. She is compassionate towards all and will be patient and attentive to your personal needs. Her care and quality of her work speaks for itself.
